The Two Location Types

Awardee offers two location types, each designed for different business models:

Standard Location

  • Retail stores

  • Professional services

  • Corporate headquarters

  • Offices

  • Restaurants and cafes

  • Service businesses

  • Any business without overnight guest lodging

  • Operates as a storefront, office, or service base

  • Focuses on staff, professional services, or retail products

  • No overnight guest lodging

  • Customers visit for services, products, or appointments

  • Clothing boutique

  • Hair salon

  • Dental office

  • Coffee shop

  • Gym or fitness center

  • Auto repair shop

  • Consulting firm

Accommodation

  • Hotels

Common Scenarios

Scenario 1: Restaurant with Rooms

Question: I run a restaurant that also has a few guest rooms upstairs. Which type should I choose?

  • If the restaurant is your primary business and rooms are secondary → Standard Location

  • If guest lodging is your primary business with a restaurant attached → Accommodation

Choose based on your primary business focus.

Scenario 2: Spa with Treatment Rooms

Question: My spa has treatment rooms where clients rest. Is this accommodation?

Answer: Standard Location. Treatment rooms for services are not overnight lodging. Choose Accommodation only if guests sleep overnight.

Scenario 3: Event Venue

Question: We host events and have spaces people use for hours. Which type?

Answer: Standard Location. Event spaces are not overnight lodging, even if events last many hours.

Scenario 4: Vacation Rental

Question: I manage a vacation rental property. Which type?

Answer: Accommodation. Vacation rentals provide overnight lodging for guests.

Scenario 5: Coworking Space

Question: Our coworking space has nap pods. Is this accommodation?

Answer: Standard Location. Nap pods for short rests are not overnight lodging.

Setting Up Your Location Type

Location type is selected during the location creation process:

  1. When adding a new location, you'll reach the location type selection step

  2. Review the descriptions of Standard Location and Accommodation

  3. Select the type that matches your primary business service

  4. Complete the setup process

Can I Change Location Type Later?

NEEDS CONFIRMATION: Whether location type can be changed after initial setup, and if so, how.

Best Practices

Be Honest About Your Business

  • Appropriate features and tools

  • Relevant default settings

  • Optimal customer experience

  • Proper categorization

When in Doubt

  1. Consider your primary revenue source

  2. Think about your main customer interaction

  3. Ask: "What do customers primarily come here for?"

  4. Choose Standard Location if still uncertain (it covers most business types)

  • Create separate locations for each distinct business

  • Example: A hotel with a separate retail shop could be two locations

  • Each location can have its own type
